The all-new hatchback will be taking the Golf family to its 8th generation. The all-new Golf R is a tribute to the original Golf R32 (2002) which was quite powerful and was the first VW car to offer a DCT transmission.

Volkswagen is expanding its sporty high-performance Golf line-up with the R joining the GTI, GTI Clubsport, GTE and GTD.
The most powerful Golf hatch is more dynamic, efficient, digital and closely integrated. It will boast a 2.0-litre 4-cyinder turbo petrol engine from the EA 888 series of the automaker. The 8th gen Golf also features an enhanced all-wheel drive with selective wheel torque control on the rear axle. The all-wheel drive system is managed by a Vehicle Dynamics Manager that integrates the electronic front diff lock (XDS) and adaptive chassis control DCC.
The presales of the 2021 VW Golf R will begin on November 5 just for the German and the European markets.
