But there are other TV breakups that are so terrible and ridiculous, they’re hard to take seriously. Maybe they’re absurdly dramatic, unintentionally funny, or just plain cringey. Teen TV couple breakups are often especially painful to watch.

When Jade told Beck he had 10 seconds to follow her outside or their relationship was over on Victorious.

When Riley broke up with Buffy by dramatically flying off in a helicopter on Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Don’t get me wrong, Dean was totally right to break up with Rory over this, but the fact that it happened in the middle of a 24-hour dance marathon is just wild. Imagine you’re just trying to dance with your wife and some teenage boy launches into a whole breakup speech.

Sam was definitely right to break up with Quinn after she cheated on him, but the way he says they’re not going to Color Me Mine is just SO dramatic and serious that I can’t make it through the scene without laughing.

When Guzmán ended things with Lu while they were wearing matching couple’s costumes at a Halloween party on Elite.

Are Guzmán and Nadia superior? Absolutely. Did I still feel bad for Lu here? Honestly, yeah. The fact that they were wearing matching costumes makes it kind of unintentionally funny, though.
